STATELINE, Nev. - Although all of the golfers competing in the American Celebrity Championship are famous in their own right, the real star of the show is Edgewood Tahoe.
The beautiful resort course on the shores of Lake Tahoe provides the stunning backdrop that makes the tournament so compelling for spectators on the ground and those watching on TV at home. Whether you're teeing it up yourself or watching the tournament, it's hard not to get distracted by the distant snow-capped mountain peaks and towering pines lining the fairways. The holes along the lake - the par-4 9th and the par 5-3-5 finish from no. 16 through 18 - take the visuals up a notch.

Edgewood Tahoe earned the highest honor GolfPass can give earlier this year, finishing No. 1 among the nation's top 50 courses in Golfers' Choice 2025.
So, what's the secret sauce beyond Edgewood Tahoe's natural setting?
It's the luxury treatment golfers receive from the start - where they are greeted with valet service - to finish, where a drink on Brooks Deck overlooking the lake is a must. You don't have to be a participant in the American Celebrity Championship like Steph Curry to be treated like a rock star. During the round, golfers generally enjoy a tough but fair course that's kept in fantastic condition.
All of the recent 2025 reviews are gushing with praise. Not even the higher price tag - from $250 in May to $425 in July - seems to be hurting the positive vibes. Golfers can also book tee times on GolfPass.
"One of the most beautiful courses I have ever played." wrote golfer 'guidwesley' on May 28. "Views are breathtaking and holes are awesome. Elevation changes, sand traps and water make this course challenging. Must play to fully experience it."
George Fazio, and his young nephew Tom Fazio, laid out Edgewood Tahoe in 1968. It's home to just enough quirks to be completely unique. Two holes - the par-4 eighth and par-5 16th - feature trees in the middle of the fairway. It's a hazard you either love or hate; I'm a fan. Another tee shot, the par-4 15th, plays completely blind. Players use a mirror at the tee to see if the fairway is clear up ahead over the ridge.
The biggest routing quirk is undeniable - at least 11 holes either dogleg to the right or bend slightly that direction. Edgewood Tahoe might be the most righty-slicer-friendly course in the world...if you hit it far enough to reach the proper angles around the corner. Too often, my baby-fades end up in bunkers or rough at the dogleg or stay blocked out by the trees. In my case, staying left is the key to scoring. That's probably my best advice: Don't try to cut corners. Taking the conservative route will pay off with more greens in regulation.
Several holes were tweaked in 2017 to make room for the luxurious Lodge at Edgewood, one of my all-time favorite golf resorts. Every detail, from the furniture and decor in the rooms, to the food, is dialed to perfection.
